Internships & Volunteerism

The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission, from time to time, has limited
opportunities for college and university interns as well as volunteers. Internships are typically limited to those arranged in advance for academic credit and as part of an already established program of curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or graduate degree. These internships do not include financial remuneration and interns can expect to experience a broad variety of tasks, opportunities and learning experiences depending on the nature of the internship itself, the needs of the Crime Commission at that particular time and the skills that the intern brings to the relationship.

Interns can expect to work either at the Crime Commission offices or at an
off-site location as the internship requires, and must be comfortable working in a modest office space, in close proximity to other staff members and with the technology that is available at the time. Reasonable expenses incurred as part of an internship (e.g. parking)
can be reimbursed.

Volunteer opportunities may be available as well at any given time, but will be entirely dependent upon matching a particular skill set or ability with the needs of the Crime Commission, the availability of office space and the number of interns and/or volunteers currently in place.

The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission is funded by private contributions and receives no operational funding from tax dollars or government sources. Click here to learn how to help.
